Animal Brutality
49There is a saying that goes thus, “don’t always believe what you see on television”. We watch so many movies and documentaries rated (V) meaning violence, this time we refer to violence done to animals especially farm animals. In the developed countries of the world like the United States, the killings of farm animals like cattle and poultry for meat is done in a well-guarded and secluded place in abattoirs. Most people don`t get the chance to witness such in their lifetime.
Coming down to Africa and other third-world countries the scenario is not the same, as the reverse is the case. Here both adult and young partake in the slaughter of cattle and poultry alike, as long as they are not scared of seeing blood or handling the animal.
During festive periods like Christmas and Easter people troop to the market to buy live poultry and take them home to kill under the watchful eyes of children, in excitement of what to eat after it`s being prepared. This act would be seen as barbaric and brutal in other developed countries.
Some people go the extent of breaking the necks of these poor animals to using knives, this, as far as I am concerned should be considered animal brutality and abuse. People with such mentality should be enlightened on how to “properly” slaughter poultry and cattle for the purpose of obtaining meat and animal hides and skin.
