Is This The End Of Postal Services?
By edelma
Back in the days when we used to write letters, put them in envelopes and seal it with our saliva, we would look for someone to send it to whomever we wanted to give it to. For those that could afford stamps, they would buy it and send it to the post office, even if it means taking a bus to the place. We wrote to our loved ones residing very far away from us, it took days sometimes weeks forour letters to get to their destinations, and when they finally arrive, it was like a big present was about to be opened.
Now we are in the 21st century, where the electronic media is in vogue and post offices are now seen as a thing of the past, most people no longer go to post offices to send letters. The use of mobile phones, laptops and desktop computers, pagers and other gadgets have made messaging faster and easier, thereby reducing the cost of sending letters and mail. When I walk down the street I catch a glimpse of what used to be a post office, the old outmoded structure now looks like a building fit for a museum.
Change they say is the only thing that is constant in life, and as time passes by, we can only change with it, science and technology has become a part of mankind in this present generation, we can only choose that which is best for us, that which will be of timely help to us. Technology has improved our means of communication, so we just have to move with it.
